Dehydration

Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in, leading to an imbalance that can affect normal bodily functions. It can be caused by excessive sweating, insufficient water intake, vomiting, diarrhea, or illnesses such as fever.

Symptoms of Dehydration

  • Thirst and dry mouth
  • Dark yellow urine or decreased urination
  • Fatigue or dizziness
  • Dry skin
  • Rapid heartbeat and breathing
  • Confusion or irritability (severe cases)

Prevention and Treatment

  • Drink plenty of water, especially in hot weather or when exercising.
  • Consume hydrating foods like fruits and vegetables.
  • Use oral rehydration solutions if experiencing severe fluid loss.
  • Seek medical attention if dehydration becomes severe, leading to confusion, fainting, or inability to keep fluids down.
